Please be aware that hull to deck bolts are required for the 2012 season going forward. I know that many of us have removed the toe rail either completely or in sections and with that some of our boats have sections of this joint that are unsuported by mechanical fasteners. Every other bolt (a bolt approx every 8") is required as a minimum and these bolts have to be 1/4 x 20 stainless. Some boats have flat heads that are countersunk while others have pan heads that sit on the deck. Pan heads are preferable at the head has a better chance of holding the joint closed in the case of a collision but ... since there are many boats with the flat heads already, they are acceptable also.
Please check to see that your boat is class legal going forward (well before the three bridge). I want to make every effort to make the fleet aware of this requirement before there are tears late in the season.
